My wife and I were married in Connecticut last week. I'm ecstatic! We live in Brooklyn, and we went to CT to make it legal (New York state honors out of state gay marriages but doesn't offer them here). We're going to have a huge ceremony and reception in May here with all our friends.
The woman who performed our ceremony in CT was Heather Reed, and she was just amazing. She had this really warm energy, and although we told her it was just a pro forma ceremony, she wrote the most beautiful ceremony for us anyway. She said she'd married many gay couples, but we were her first lesbian marriage, and that she felt honored to share it with us. My wife and I both cried, it was so beautiful. Heather is on the directory at the town clerk's, and I really recommend her.
I'm still overwhelmed that it could really happen for me. I really never thought it would be possible.
