How do we let people know where we've registered? What's the polite way? I don't want it to seem tacky, like I'm just telling people to go buy us things.
Do I email everyone to let them know? Should it be a job for my best woman? So far my best woman doesn't have much to do except walk me down the aisle during the ceremony. My wife's best woman is helping her with clothing fitting and contacting people for the reception, so perhaps since my best woman isn't being called on to do those things for me, she can do this part? What do you think?

Having your Best Woman help out is a great idea.

Another way folks often get the message about where an engaged couple is registered is via their showers. Is anyone throwing you a shower? Generally speaking, registry options are included on a shower invitation, but not a wedding invitation.

You might also consider creating a Wed Page with us if you haven't already. You can add information about your ceremony and where you are registered and then include that link in an email to your friends or in a letter (if you are sending out additional information regarding the logistics for traveling/accommodations for your wedding weekend).

if you create a wedding website that is the easiest way to share all of your wedding details, including the registry, with your guests. it's subtle b/c you are directing them there for all details without putting the focus on the registry itself. we are using a site called http://www.depositagift.com for our wedding website and cash gift registry (we're registering for our honeymoon, but you can do anything). it's a really cute, easy to use site. and i like that the registry that we prefer guests use is sort of 'baked into' the site as the main registry, without us having to put it into people's faces. it works for showers too. i think i read a post about that on their blog. def check it out!

Hi! Just wanted to share this tidbit - I just got married and also just needed money instead of more gifts....I went through a wedding registry called Upon our Star (www.uponourstar.com) and essentially our guests can choose to contribute to our wedding or our mortgage.....but at the end of the day, we get cash!
It's awesome....we just cashed out last week! Yay!!

Happy wedding planning!
