I was surfing around this evening and saw this on ProudParenting.com:
"London, UK) – Former Culture Club front man Boy George has come forward and slammed same-sex 'weddings', saying that the traditions of marriage are outdated and have no place in modern or gay culture. The “Karma Chameleon” singer denounced Elton John and David Furnish's decision to have a civil ceremony last year when the United Kingdom legalized same-sex unions." Hmmmm. I suppose we could look at this as sour grapes. Or, perhaps, there's more he said which wasn't included. Things like: what is the role of committed long-term relationships between any two people -- straight of gay? In what ways can "the gays" rehabilitate marriage much like we revitalize unwanted neighborhoods? Is there something more about a commitment between two people that can be defined, respected and embraced and yet be something more than traditional marriage? Did anyone out there read more on what he said and meant by this? Or is this it? Bottom line: he thinks same sex marriage is lame. |
