A lot of couples love ice blue and silver for winter weddings (which can be so gorgeous!) but I guess I was afraid it might feel too "cold" and so we actually went to the other extreme, spicing things up with tons of bright colors and lanterns and fairy lights. I ended up being so happy about the direction we took, the space felt supremely warm and cozy even with the winter chill and wind outside.

Oh, so pretty! I really love this idea and the execution in particular. I love how almost-tropical the orchids look, and fuscia and green are just awesome together. So vibrant and warm and cozy!

Like almost every other couple getting married in January, we had a boring silver and white and ice-blue color scheme. (December weddings on the other hand seem to favor red and gold.)We did it because we liked it, and because we went way, way overboard with snowflakes as a theme element. Smiler

Evidence of our snowflake excess (and this isn't even everything - for example, the invitations, yep, snowflake bordered!)...

http://students.washington.edu/~gogarten/album/DETAILS64.jpg (place cards that I did which were the only thing which did not have a snowflake theme)

We kept flowers minimal and in white/blue.

http://students.washington.edu/~gogarten/album/DETAILS88.jpg (my bouquet, snowflake-esque dress embroidery, MOH bouquet in background)
http://students.washington.edu/~gogarten/album/DETAILS90.jpg (my mom's posey, gardenia, and shoes which matched her outfit but which were not suitable for trudging to the church in the snow)
http://students.washington.edu/~gogarten/album/DETAILS84.jpg (bouquets)

The last picture also shows our total excess in the *other* theme, which is "we're really excited about the small town we dragged you all to". We found poems of a local poet and used them to mark tables, and we dug up all this history about the church (like that the organ was built by an openly gay Victorian man)? We literally had footnotes for our program. Smiler

But it did totally work with the weather:

And in a way, because it was a destination wedding to an even colder, snowier place than any of our guests lived in, we kind of felt like winter was an obvious theme. Smiler

Your wedding looks absolutely exquisite!

I think carrying a theme through all the elements creates a beautiful flow...

Your photographer did a great job capturing all the details as well, you must be thrilled.

Wishing you well in married life!

Thank you so much for the kind words! We loved our photographers, a husband and wife team, who did a great job capturing everything (that there were two of them probably helped).

Likewise, I wish you all the best! May married life continue to treat you well!
