When it comes to planning, the hard part is figuring out what's important to you and your betrothed. For budgeting, list all categories and rate each one on a scale of one to five, and use that as a guide for what category to spend your hard-earned money in.
For non-budget items, you can each make a list of the most important things to you (rated in most to least important) and use that list to start a discussion about how you will integrate the top ones on your lists. In order to make your wedding special, it should reflect who you are as a couple and that happens by determining your priorities in the beginning. Excellent advice.
We did this, kind of informally. We discovered that when one person is an interior designer (priority is decor), and the other person is in the wine business (priority is fine cuisine), and both people quite delight in clothes and fine jewelry, what you end up with is.... one verrry expensive wedding. LOL Oh well. We are only planning on doing it once. |
