Wedding Crasher |
Yay! I am so glad to see this discussion here. I am getting married in 3 very short months and have not yet figured out what to wear. I am sort of a butchy femme i guess. I don't think that I have worn a dress in 8 years (aside from the occasional drag party) but I find myself considering a dress. I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of grrrl. So both a suit and a dress feels like playing at dress-up to me. I think in the end i may end up with a dress of some kind. Bodily I am very femme, so I think girlie clothes look better on me. But I can not stand the traditional wedding gowns. Any one have any suggestions about where to find funky formal wear in NYC on the cheap and in larger sizes? Surely it must be out there, but I can't seem to find it.
My boo is of the soft butch variety and would never consider wearing anything but a suit, and she does look damn good in a suit. |

I just came back from my niece's wedding to her partner. My nice wore a simple but lacy gown, shorter in front, trailing in back. Her partner wore a very plain/basic satin gown, perhaps more fit for someone who has tastes that run more simple.
Both girls were beautiful. The fact that both wore gowns was very cool, because the gowns reflected their personalities. Do you care what this straight aunt thinks? Maybe not...but as a member of the audience, knowing both girls put their best foot forward, and both felt beautiful (or handsome, as the case might be) was most important. You deserve to feel your best on this most greatest day! |
